Special Education in the Time of Covid-19
My heart absolutely breaks for students who receive special services during this time of at-home schooling. If your child has an IEP or a 504 plan, please know that the school's duty to provide special services under those plans does not stop simply because the child is taking classes at home. Missing out on so much instruction can be devastating for a child's educational future. As a former teacher, I can tell you that once a child begins falling below grade level it is very difficult, if not impossible, to bring them back on par. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to hold your child's school directly accountable for their responsibilities under the law.
If you believe that your child's school has not been adhering to the child's plan for special services during the coronavirus, please contact Skeens Law, PLLC at 502-403-2394 today for your free consultation. Don't let your child fall behind!
